For post-production shared storage workgroups and other bandwidth-intensive workflows, 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10 GbE) is the new standard for data transmission.Although very affordable 10GbE switches have helped to significantly reduce the cost of building the 10GbE infrastructure, the price of adding client connectivity - especially fibre connections - remains a barrier for some. Now there is an equally affordable 10GbE interface for desktop and workstation computers - Sonnet's Solo10G -PPe PCIe card, an extremely simple solution to connect Mac, Windows and Linux computers to blazing fast fibre 10GbE network connections at a price that is sure to please.

The Solo10G SFP + PCIe card includes a 10GBASE-SR (Short Range) SFP + transceiver (the most commonly used optical transceiver) that allows you to connect your computer to the 10GbE infrastructure via LC optical cables (optical cables sold separately) up to a distance of 300 metres.

Additional SFP+ transceiver selection

Sonnet offers a short-haul multi-mode fibre SFP+ module (up to 300 metres), part number G10E-SFP-SR, which is included with the Solo10G card. Sonnet also offers a single-mode fibre module for long distances (up to 10 kilometres), part number G10E-SFP-LR (sold separately); and a 10GBASE-T copper module (up to 30 metres with CAT 6A cables), part number G10E-SFP-T (sold separately). Alternatively, you can use low-cost twinax copper cables with direct connection of up to 10 metres in length.
