The ATP series from Zyxel is an "Advanced Threat Protection" firewall for companies with high security requirements. Cloud intelligence takes network protection to a whole new level - especially for new, as yet unknown threats. In addition to the familiar Zyxel security services such as web and application security, malware blockers, etc., the firewalls also support sandboxing and botnet filters. An appealing ATP dashboard provides a quick overview of currently recognised threats. With the latest software and hardware, the ATP firewall offers very high performance, even when using all security functions.

Learning cloud intelligence

The cloud intelligence receives unknown files or user patterns from requests from all ATP firewalls. It then identifies and archives the inspection results in the cloud threat database. The highest ranked threats are propagated to all ATP firewalls so that all ATP firewalls are continuously protected against new unknown threats. With real-time cloud synchronisation, cloud intelligence is continuously evolving into a security defence ecosystem. All ATP firewalls are synchronised with cloud intelligence and react adaptively to each new threat.

Sandbox turns unknown into known

Sandboxing uses an isolated environment in the cloud to analyse unknown files that cannot be identified by existing local security tools such as anti-virus. This approach makes it possible to recognise completely new and unknown malware and prevent it from entering a network. In combination with cloud intelligence, the cloud sandbox of the ATP firewall series offers optimum protection against zero-day attacks of all kinds.

Security through multi-layered protection

In the past, a single security mechanism could very reliably intercept a specific threat. However, the capabilities of advanced malware are now so sophisticated that a single specific defence will inevitably fail.

The ATP firewall series is designed to cope with a multi-layered protection grid against different types of threats from inside and outside. Comprehensive security features such as botnet filtering, sandboxing, app patrol, content filtering, anti-malware, intrusion detection prevention and anomaly detection prevention ensure multi-layered data protection.

Gold licence

The ATP firewalls offer their own service licence model. Due to the interconnected, multi-layered security modules and the link to the cloud intelligence, the licensing of individual services as with the UTM models makes little sense. The Gold licence included with the purchase of an ATP firewall contains all available security modules and an additional 1-year licence for SecuReporter for detailed security analyses. The Gold licence can be renewed at the end of the year.

Firewall as WLAN controller

Where previously a dedicated WLAN controller was used, today the firewall often takes over this function. Zyxel offers an attractive portfolio of current WLAN access points that can be easily managed centrally via the firewall.
