Cisco Meraki MS125 switches provide Layer 2 access switching ideal for branch office and campus deployments. The MS125 series has a variety of performance options to meet the diverse needs of large enterprise networks. Cisco Meraki switches are designed from the ground up for cloud management without compromising on the performance and flexibility traditionally found in enterprise-class switches. All Cisco Meraki switches are managed through an elegant, intuitive cloud interface, not a cryptic command line. To get a Meraki switch up and running, simply plug it in. Meraki switches do not require a CLI for switch configuration or port management. Meraki's centralised management platform gives administrators granular visibility into their network. Our dashboard helps you track every configuration change on your network with our detailed event and change logs.
Power over Ethernet
With Power over Ethernet, you can supply compatible devices with power via the network cable. Especially for end devices such as wireless access points, IP telephones and IP cameras, this reduces the cabling effort and at the same time gives you a high degree of flexibility in the placement of the end devices.
802.3at PoE+
The IEEE 802.3at standard offers a maximum of 25.4 watts of power on each PoE+ port with a voltage of up to 50 volts. The standard assumes that 21.90 watts of usable power remain or may be consumed after line losses in order not to exceed the maximum power output. A Cat5e/6 cable with a maximum length of 100 metres is recommended for PoE+.
Converged voice, video and data environments
The Meraki switch family is designed to provide data, voice and video on a single IP backbone. All Meraki switches support rich Quality of Service (QoS) functionality to prioritise data, voice and video traffic. The switches support eight Class-of-Service (CoS) queues on each port, providing end-to-end traffic prioritisation. PoE models provide power for VoIP phones, IP security cameras, wireless access points (APs) and other IP devices. In addition, PoE power becomes intelligent using CDP and LLDP to maximise the number of PoE clients supported.
Application layer visibility
Meraki switches have built-in Layer 7 fingerprinting without the need to purchase additional modules or services. Identify hundreds of applications from business apps to BitTorrent and YouTube. With user fingerprinting, administrators can quickly identify individual users by device and tune network resources for optimal performance.
Standardised software architecture
Meraki switches run the same operating system used by all of our products, allowing us to provide a consistent user experience for network management. New MS125 switches automatically connect to the Meraki Cloud when connected and download the latest configuration. Future updates can be scheduled by the user to ensure the network is up to date with bug fixes, security updates and new features.
