With a depth of only 30 centimetres, the RS1221+ is ideal for use in confined spaces. With over 100,000 4K random read IOPS and 2.315 MB/s sequential read throughput*1, the RS1221+ can easily handle even the most demanding applications in data-intensive environments.

Compact design

The RS1221+ and the RX418 expansion unit (optionally available) are particularly compact for space-saving use in confined spaces. At 30 cm, they are only half as deep as standard 2U devices and fit perfectly into rack stands or narrow racks.

Powerful storage solution for all requirements

Up to 2,315/1,147 MB/s sequential read and write throughput and over 100,000/54,000 random read/write IOPS provide ample performance even for demanding applications.

Hyper Backup

A comprehensive all-in-one solution for data backup and recovery. Back up data locally, to other Synology devices, rsync servers or to cloud services such as Google Drive, Dropbox, S3-compatible storage destinations and Synology C2 Storage, a dedicated cloud storage for Synology devices. Deduplication, integrity checks and incremental data transfer reduce bandwidth and storage space consumption.

Snapshot Replication

Easily schedule flexible point-in-time backups of shared folders and LUNs with an RPO of just 5 minutes and recovery in seconds. Set up replication and failover to other Synology storage systems for fast RTO and minimal interruption.
