Brienz School.

The colourful school.

The municipality of Brienz has around 3,000 residents. With 370 pupils, the school is a medium-sized inclusive institution that also places great emphasis on special needs provision. The secondary school building—exceptionally large for its time when built in 1903—was renovated three years ago, enabling it to accommodate the growing number of pupils without issue.

Digital for 20 years.

Although the school building is over 100 years old, its digital transformation began with the first computer room some 20 years ago. For the past five years, iPads have been used in a 1:1 setup from Year 5 onwards—around 250 devices in total.

MDM as a management tool.

The municipality has its own IT department, which hosts and self-manages an MDM system.

The iPad in teaching.

Thanks to its straightforward handling, the iPad can be used in a wide variety of classroom situations. Pupils adapt to it immediately. Laptop trolleys are now a thing of the past at Brienz School—the iPad fully replaces them.
